Final Version - Contents Page

This is the final version of the contents page within 51:50 (Fifty-One-Fifty) magazine:

This product has been a success as the house style has been maintained throughout, making the sub-headings are in a bold purple font, followed by copy in a sans serif font of which is in a itallic red to show a brief overview of the article. A range of images have been used of which have been placed in for the target audience, as research was taken to see what artists are more popular then others, so there a range of artists for all of 51:50's audience. Again different colours have been used to make things stand out to the rest of the page as this may be important or key information. The 'Sean Kingston' special was a developed idea of which was influenced by a contents page in the research task.
Overall, this magazine has been a success matching up to the codes and conventions of real life media products, everything which has been placed into this front cover have been from different elements of the research undertook to create such a powerful product.

Final Version - Double Page Spread

This is the final version of the double page spread within 51:50 (Fifty-One-Fifty) magazine:

This double page spread is a success as once again it maintains the house style of Red, Blue and Grey, but other colours are used throughout, to make certain information stand-out and highlight the importance of the page. The use of pull quotes and captions in a bold red font with a white highlight around it makes them stand out and draw the target audience into the page. 
The purple shows the main information such as, the name of the artist being interviewed, the introduction to the interview and the questions to the artist. On the other hand, the red also shows importance as these show pull quotes, captions, and answers, the red represents Sean Kingston. 
Colloquial language has been used throughout the interview as this will address the target audience and fit the codes and conventions of the Hip-Hop genre.
A range of images have been used showing 'Sean Kingston' in a range of locations. The one of him placed in Times Square, New York, is effective because the Hip-Hop genre was originated in America, so this also fits the codes and conventions of Hip-Hop.
Lastly a page number has been placed in the bottom right hand corner as this tells the audience which page they are on.
this magazine has been a success matching up to the codes and conventions of real life media products, everything which has been placed into this front cover have been from different elements of the research undertook to create such a powerful product.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The most common media institution that distribute other media magazine products are mainly News Agents and high retail stores, like WH Smith and Waterstones. The media production that has been undertaken has been created in enable to fit into the same media institutions as real media products.

News Agents

A newsagent's shop is a business that sells newspapers, magazines, cigarettes, snacks and often items of local interest.
Magazines can be distributed through sales by newsagent's, bookstores; or through free distribution at selected pick-up locations.
Newsagent's would be a good media institution as many of the target audience visit newsagent's to buy magazine's, with the bold fonts, bright colours and the courageous key images would stand out to the rest, which would attract more of an audience.

                                                                                    Book Stores (WHSmith, Waterstones)

WHSmith plc is a British retailer. It is best known for its chain of high street, railway station, airport, hospital and motorway service station shops selling books, stationery, magazines, newspapers, and entertainment products.

WHSmith would be a good book store to distribute the production of fifty-one-fifty magazine, as it attracts a wide range of audience and is a very trusted company with great success.
Distribution Company

The distribution company that would be trusted to distribute the media production created, would be Future PLC. "At Future we base everything we do around clusters of like-minded individuals who are passionate about their interests. From video games to film, from cycling to music-making, we provide magazines, websites and events that inform, entertain and unite these communities. We share the same passions as our consumers."

Evaluation - 5. How did you attract/address your audience?

How did you attract/address your audience?

"What words can you use to describe 'Fifty-one-fifty' mazine?", this question has been asked to several media students and the target audience for this magazine. This question covers front page, contents page and the double page spread. To show the words of which the target audience and media students had used, a wordle has been created to show this. The larger words are the words that were most common and the smaller were more uncommon.
The words above have helped attract the audience to fifty-one-fifty as the colours are vibrant, it stands out to real media products, the magazine is professional, the house style has been consistent, key images are eye-catching and the magaine overall is creative and easy to read.

Language and Writing Style

The following wordle describes the language and writing styles used within the fifty-one-fifty magazine which is effective to attract and address the target audience.


The colloquial language is used as people in America, were hip-hop was orignated, use there own slang terms, which has been taken in to consideration, so hip-hop slang has been used within the interview. Also 51:50 is a slang word in Hip-Hop meaning insane and powerful, this reflects Hip-Hop and the magazine produced, as it includes insane and powerful information that will attract and also address the audience targeted.
Informal writing style is used to inform the target audience on new albums, artists and what's happening within the music industry, this adds the serious factor to the magzine.

Use of Artist

The research undertaken for the production of fifty-one-fifty magazine, the question was asked "Who is your favourite Hip-Hop artist?" to the target audience of fifty-one-fifty magazine enabling more of an audience to be attracted to this magazine. The bigger words are the more common artists that the audience are attracted to and like to listen to, and the smaller are the less common artists that the audience do not enjoy as much. These are the results:


The artist, Sean Kingston, has been used within the Front Page, Contents page and the Double page spread, addressing the target audience's opinion hoping more of an audience will be attracted. Also the other atrists have been used within the contents page which has addressed the audience that like other artists.





Evaluation - 6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The Prezi link below shows about the technologies which have been learnt from the process of constructing the product of '51:50' music magazine.
Also Blogger has been a new technology of which has been introduced in order to show my work. The certain aspects of which are needed in order to create a good blog is: Precise and straight to the point Information, a range of images to support the information, a range of media techniques and a good background which will help your information stand out to the audience.
The range of media techniques of which the evaluation of '51:50' music magazine has been produced are a range of prezi's, blog posts and Voice notes/videos. These are obviously other technologies of which are processed, so new skills have been aquired in order to have good videos.

Final Version - Front Page

This is the final version of the front page of 51:50 (Fifty-One-Fifty) magazine:

This front cover has maintained the house style of 51:50 magazine using the house colours, Blue, Red and Grey. Different colours are used to show importance and for certain information to stand out. The key image of 'Sean Kingston' blends in with the house style, but also matches up to the codes and conventions of real life media magazines and hip-hop artists. He is wearing the snapback, which is a cap the well known artists wear, glasses to show his importance and that he is serious about his music, and is making clear eye contact with the audience which will draw in more of an audience. The heading is bold and is clear to the audience displaying the masthead of this music magazine.
Overall, this magazine has been a success matching up to the codes and conventions of real life media products, everything which has been placed into this front cover have been from different elements of the research undertook to create such a powerful product.

This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because the genre of Hip-Hop was originated in America, so this goes with the codes and conventions of Hip-Hop. This image was then rectified in Photoshop along with another image to create an effective image.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 magazine as this artist is giving the target audience something to aspire to and maybe aim to be like in later life. Also it is giving the target audience fashion tips on how to look if they want the latest trends in fashion.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because it fits well with the codes and conventions of the Hip Hop genre, generating the audience to have someone to be inspired by and look up to.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because 'Sean Kingston' is giving clear eye contact with the audience, and as it is on the front page, this key image will need to be appealing and draw the audience into the magazine.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because this shows 'Sean Kingston' is appreciating the break he got into the music industry by looking up to God whilst in Times Square, New York City. This image will be incorporated in with the image of Times Sqaure using Adobe Photoshop. This will match the codes and conventions of Hip-Hop as this genre was first originated in America.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because it gives the audience a brief insight to their role models and the latest news of their music career. Also, throughout the research task, there were many images of the artists recording a new album or single as this fits a particular genre.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because this is showing big watches and snapback. This gives the audience a chance to have something from one of their favourite artist, which could attract the audience to 51:50 magazine as they will want to read about his new watch range.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because this shows that the artist is conforming to the codes and conventions of the Hip-Hop genre wearing snap backs and wearing designer clothing. Also he is in a different location which show variety.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because as this artist is in a different location providing variety between all images. Also the conventions of the costume of the artist is maintained, wearing a snapback and designer clothing.
This image is appropriate for 51:50 music magazine because this shows codes and conventions of Hip-Hop and the costumes of which these Hip-Hop artists are represented of wearing. This again gives the target audience a figure to look up to and copy his fashion.
